After an extensive recruitment process, East Arnhem Regional Council is pleased to announce Mr Dale Keehne as our new Chief Executive Officer. Dale brings a wealth of experience across the East Arnhem Region in a move that signals an exciting time of change for Council.
Dale has a strong history of supporting community development across not only the Northern Territory, but Australia and abroad, and after first laying down his roots in East Arnhem land over 15 years ago, is honoured to be returning to a role with Council.
“After six years working in a range of roles overseas and other parts of Australia I offer a strong commitment to ensure that East Arnhem Regional Council lives up to its purpose of serving, empowering and being driven by the Yolngu and Warnindilyakwan people.
I return to East Arnhem Regional Council (EARC) with my sights set firmly on strengthening our relationships with community and focusing our work on providing the services needed and wanted by our residents” said Mr Keehne.
During his previous five year tenure with EARC, Dale held the position of Director of Community Services, as well as acting CEO at various times during this period.
President Kaye Thurlow sees strong times ahead for Council.
“On behalf of our Elected Members and staff, it is my pleasure to welcome Dale back to East Arnhem Regional Council. Dale’s knowledge and experience across the Region will certainly provide for a smooth transition into the role, and importantly, some strong leadership and direction to our organisation’s progress and revitalisation.”
Council is excited for this next phase and look forward to setting positive directions for the future of our organisation and the Region” said President Thurlow.
Dale commenced in his role this week, based in the EARC Nhulunbuy office, and will be actively visiting communities and meeting with stakeholders over the coming month to identify Council’s key priorities and set the agenda as we move forward during this new phase.
